About
Valley Little Melodies

Valley Little Melodies is the Mahoning Valley’s only studio to offer Kindermusik, the world’s leading provider of music and movement programs for young children.

Meet Cara Vernal

Meet Cara Vernal

Cara grew up in Canfield, Ohio and currently resides in her old neighborhood with her husband and 5 year old daughter, Ella. She has a passion for teaching and life-long learning, having taught for eight years before “retiring” to raise her daughter full time.

With a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction: Specializing in Literacy, Cara spent her days in the classroom teaching her students through song and rhyme.

Cara took Kindermusik classes with her daughter in Cleveland and absolutely fell in love with the Kindermusik curriculum, structure of the program, and most importantly, the special one-on-one time she enjoyed with Ella. Cara couldn’t believe how much her daughter grew socially and cognitively during the classes. She immediately looked into how she could bring these classes to her hometown of Canfield and she opened Valley Little Melodies.

Meet Trista Houck

Trista grew up in Salem, Ohio and has been a middle childhood educator for 10 years. Through her experience in education and researching methods that enhance student development, she found endless benefits from incorporating music into the classroom. When Ms. Cara introduced Ms. Trista to Kindermusik, she knew she wanted to be a part of the team. She is always excited to see the developmental gains that children can achieve through Kindermusik and watch parents form strong bonds and memories with their little ones.

Meet Carrie Miller

Carrie is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst by day and a wife to a wonderful husband and mother of a perfect girl, by night. Ms. Carrie has a bachelor’s degree in Special Education (mild/intensive intervention specialist), a master’s degree in Autism and Related Disabilities, as well as a master’s in Applied Behavior Analysis.

Ms. Carrie also has an extensive background and life-long love of music. Her experience ranges from singing in her church as a child, all the way to playing in various orchestras, in hopes of pursuing music in college. She didn’t want to pursue a teaching career in music specifically, but it has continued to be her passion. That is why she enrolled her daughter, Charlotte, in Kindermusik classes at VLM and is beyond honored to have the opportunity to teach music to others.

Meet Stephanie Saville

Stephanie is the newest addition the Valley Little Melodies team. She is a recent Mahoning Valley transplant, having relocated to Poland, Ohio five years ago from the Chicago area.

Ms. Stephanie has a master’s degree in Child and Family Studies and a master’s in Social Work. She’s worked with children and families in various capacities from foster care, in child care programs and preschools, to consultant work and training. She is a (now part time) stay at home mom to three beautiful and energetic daughters and is married to her college sweetheart.

When it comes to Kindermusik, Ms. Stephanie appreciates the playfulness that it engages grownups in with their children and the one on one time. She believes music is a vital tool for helping children learn and master developmental skills that will prepare them for school and life!
